One hundred times the reward
On Saturday, the priest went to hold a prayer service for his parishioners and to raise money to build the church.
In the evening, the priest went to the house of a painter and began reverently sprinkling holy water in the studio with dust, thus staining a mural that was being painted.
The painter was furious to see his beloved work ruined.
To exonerate himself, the priest began consolingly to say:
"Do not lose your temper, my disciple; it is often the case. I am doing the Lord's will! I did it because I was doing good.
Everyone who obeys the Canon should believe in the word of God, and god should give a hundredfold return for every good deed done in this world.
Mark my words and don't be angry."
When the chattering priest walked out of the studio, the painter ran straight to the window.
Seeing the priest walking into the street, the painter took a bucket of water, pointed it at the top of his head and fell.
"Please take this bucket, father! 'cried the artist, raising his voice. "This is the hundredfold reward god has given you for destroying my fresco for you! A hundredfold!"
